Beacon Hill Townhouse
This extensive renovation in Boston’s historic Beacon Hill neighborhood marries a modern interior aesthetic with the traditional lines of an existing Federal Style townhouse. The structure was significantly renovated, including underpinning the foundations to develop new space for a garden-level kitchen and family room.
The expanded living area connects to new outdoor garden space. A wall of folding doors makes for a seamless transition from inside to outside.

Ebonized hardwood flooring and modern art and furniture help to knit together the newer garden areas with the rest of the house. Stern McCafferty designed much of the furniture and curated classic modern pieces with existing furniture already in the owner’s collection.

A custom-designed acrylic shelving system holds an extensive art library and offers a modern, ethereal accent to a traditional room.
